1987: The Vision Begins

It all started with a bold vision to transform the traditional Greek fragrance market. Founded by a passionate young entrepreneur—armed with degrees in Chemistry and Perfumery from Paris—AVEL was established to bring a “fresh breath” of premium, innovative experiences to Greek consumers.

1987 – 1994: Laying the Foundation

For its first seven years, AVEL focused on building strategic partnerships with global Fragrance and Beauty Houses. We became a trusted distributor of specialty ingredients for perfumes, beauty care, and detergents, prioritizing quality and novelty above all else.

1994: Strategic Diversification

Recognizing the potential in neighboring industries, AVEL expanded into the Flavors and Food ingredients categories. This move marked the beginning of our multi-sector expertise, supported by a growing team of dedicated sales professionals.

1998 – 2005: Crossing Borders

AVEL’s reputation for excellence allowed us to look beyond Greece. We began exporting to Southeast Europe, eventually expanding our reach into the Middle East and North Africa (including the UAE and Egypt). To support this growth, our team expanded to 10 highly specialized members.

2009: Committing to Excellence

Quality and sustainability became the core of our operations. AVEL achieved ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications, solidifying our status as a reliable and responsible partner.

2012: The Lab Revolution

To offer truly tailor-made solutions, we invested €200,000 to launch our in-house Beauty Care & Cosmetics Application Laboratory. This allowed us to co-create and customize formulations directly with our clients, moving from a “supplier” to a “consultant” role.

2017: 30 Years of Success

Celebrating three decades of growth, AVEL entered the Wine Additives market, recognizing the rising potential of Greek viticulture. By this time, our team had grown to 15 experts.

2018: Expanding Technical Expertise

Following the success of our first lab, we invested another €200,000 to open the Food & Taste Application Laboratory. This facility enables us to provide “frame formulations,” helping our clients innovate faster and more effectively.

2020 – Today: A Global Specialty Leader

Despite global challenges, AVEL continues to thrive. With a team of over 22 professionals and activities expanding into Turkey and Eastern Europe, we remain dedicated to our three pillars: Innovative Products, Technical Know-How, and Exceptional Customer Service.
